EFW Global BV have developed pyrolysis units capable of processing various types of waste. Most commonly processed are: shredded plastics and shredded tyres.
The capacity of our units ranges from 5 mt/day up to 50 mt/day. Tailor made processing solutions are provided by using our Pyrolysis Research Unit to work out the optimum processing parameters for any type of waste which still holds energy for extraction. The extracted energy comes in the form of Pyrolysis Oil or Synthetic Gas (SynGas).
Pyrolysis Oil is a high grade fuel with a number of applications. This oil can be used to run conventional engines or generators replacing fossil-based diesel oil. Additional applications in the chemical industry are under investigation.
SynGas can be used for heating buildings or water. The latest application of SynGas is using this fuel in a fuel-cell for generating, totally clean electric power.
An important product from pyrolysis of tyres is Carbon Black: over 40% of processed tyres consists of this valuable raw material which is mostly used as filler or dye or (in activated form) purifiers for water and air.
